Press informationMore than 120 exhibitors from 11 countries will present the latest in arms, hardware and equipment at the 10th BALT-MILITARY-EXPO Baltic Military Fair which opens in Gdańsk on June 25th. The Fair will be held under the Honorary Auspices of Mr Bogdan Klich, the Polish Minister of National Defence. The Baltic Military Fair will be accompanied by the 10th SAFETY Rescue, Safety, Personal and Facility Security Fair. Both Fairs will last until June 27th. The Baltic Military Fair is closely linked to the sea and its coast. The Fair’s goal is to present the latest solutions in logistics and equipment for defence, security, safety, maritime and coastal rescue. BALT - MILITARY - EXPO has been developed in collaboration with the Polish Navy and with the aim to meet its needs. BME is the only trade exhibition in Poland with a naval profile. The Fair is dedicated to the Polish Navy, Special Operations Command, the Border Guard, the Police, State Fire Service and the maritime and land-based rescue services. The Fairs will host recognised defence, security and rescue technology providers from Poland and abroad, with products and services consistent with the modernisation needs of the Polish Armed Forces and the services of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration. The exhibitors include such international corporations as: ATLAS ELEKTRONIK, KONGSBERG, IMTECH, MTU, SAAB AB, THALES, SYSTEMS SUNLIGHT S.A., UK MOD-DSA, RAYTHEON, FLIR SYSTEMS, and all of the most important companies of the Polish defence industry, including BUMAR, THE MARINE TECHNOLOGY CENTRE (OBR CTM), THE NAVAL SHIPYARD GDYNIA, REMONTOWA GROUP S.A., THE POLISH NAVAL ACADEMY (AMW), RADWAR, RADMOR, DGT, THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS RESEARCH INSTITUTE, MASKPOL, MORATEX, THE GDAŃSK UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, THE MILITARY UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, THE POLISH AVIATION FACTORY, PZL RZESZÓW, and the POLISH CHAMBER OF NATIONAL DEFENCE MANUFACTURERS (PIPNOK). The trade exhibition will be accompanied by a programme of conferences, presentations and rescue shows. The Conference on the Modernisation and Development of the Polish Navy held by the Command of the Polish Navy is of special importance. The keynote paper, covering the modernisation programme and the principles for the further development of the Polish Navy, will be delivered by Vice-Admiral Andrzej Karweta, Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Navy. On the third day of the Fairs, the Gdynia Maritime University (AM) together with The Society for Security Studies and Analysis invite you to the National Conference on the Security of Critical Infrastructure and Crisis Management – Technologies, Implementation, Concepts. The Honorary auspices over this event will be held by Mr Grzegorz Schetyna, Poland’s Minister of Interior and Administration. The Fairs will once again be accompanied by the International Conference on the Prospects and the Development of Rescue, Safety, Security and Defence Systems in the 21st Century, organised by the Polish Naval Academy (AMW) of Gdynia and the Conference organised by the Defence Knowledge Society (TWO) and the Voivodship (Regional) Military Staff in Gdańsk on the Development Prospects for the Polish Defence Industry. The Association of Professional Paramedics, Virginia Commonwealth University – Richmond USA has organised ALERT 2008, the 2nd International Conference. The Conference will be dedicated to discussing the State Emergency System Act, the principles of the operation of the Emergency Information Centres, and Hospital Emergency Wards. On the third day of the Fairs we will carry out an exercise: a mass accident which will serve to present the practical ways the medical services work together with the other rescue services. The Pomeranian Traffic Safety Council and the Voivodship (Regional) Police Headquarters in Gdańsk have organised a Seminar on Traffic Safety. The Voivodship (Regional) Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Gdańsk has organised THE GULF OF GDAŃSK 2008, fourth Pomeranian Scuba-Diving Workshop to be organised during the Fairs and take place by the Pier in Sopot. The Fairs will be accompanied by rescue operation shows and equipment presentations by the City Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Gdańsk and the Association of Professional Paramedics – road rescue and high-altitude rescue and the Safe by the Water Foundation. The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation (WOŚP) will present its CPR for Schools Programme, dedicated to kids from elementary school classes 1-3, to promote the idea to teach first aid in Polish schools as a separate subject. The Sopot Voluntary Water Emergency Service (WOPR) will organise its equipment presentation and rescue show, which will also take place by the Pier in Sopot, in conjunction with the opening of the Voluntary Water Emergency Service (WOPR) Rescue Co-ordination Centre (on 27 June). The Safe by the Water Foundation will hold the 1st Conference on Water Rescue. The Polish Technological Platform of Security Systems will also present its achievements. Throughout the Fairs the National Classified Information Protection Society (KSOIN) and the International Polish Army Reserve Officers Association will provide advice and consultation at its stand. By now it has become tradition for the Fairs to be accompanied by a Ship Model Exhibition. Those who will showcase their work include the Maritime Micro-modellers’ Club of Rumia, the Morena and Zęza Model Studios of Gdańsk and the Railway Modellers Club of Łódź. The best products presented at the Fairs will receive the Rear Admiral Xawery Czernicki GRAND PRIX and the Fairs’ Amber Medallion. The Fairs’ partners: Polish Chamber of National Defence Manufacturers (PIPNOK), the Commander of the Polish Navy, the Chiefs of the Police, the Border Guard and the State Fire Service, the Rector of the Polish Naval Academy (AMW), and the Executive Board of the National Classified Information Protection Society (KSOIN) will also present their awards.
